About Us

The Birmingham Regional Emergency Medical Services System (BREMSS) is administratively a component of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (Health System) with policy direction provided by a Board made up of representation of local governments, hospitals, physicians, nurses, emergency medical services personnel (EMSP)  and other EMS provider groups from throughout the seven-county region.  This seven-county region is located in north-central Alabama and encompasses the counties of Blount, Chilton, Jefferson, St. Clair, Shelby, Walker, and Winston.  BREMSS is responsible for overall coordination of and improvements in the pre-hospital emergency medical care system within these seven counties and the subsequent city jurisdictions.

BREMSS educational initiatives include an established AHA Training Center authorized by the American Heart Association to conduct both Instructor and Provider Training Courses for ACLS, BLS, PALS, PEARS, and Heartsaver Courses, as well as other educational programs including Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Burn Life Support, American Red Cross training programs, and other healthcare focused educational initiatives.

BREMSS works with all components of the Emergency Medical Services System, which is inclusive of over 200 Emergency Medical Services (EMS organizations), 15 hospitals, over 2500 EMSP’s, 8 trauma centers, 17 stroke center hospitals, 8 STEMI hospitals, over 80 different municipalities, and many different 911 agencies.

Job Description

BREMSS is looking to fill a vacancy in the Education & Training Center Assistant/Office Associate II position which is Full Time with UAB Benefits. General duties include: 

Assist with the BREMSS Education Training Center:

  • Processing CPR rosters daily
  • Manage instructor certifications monthly
  • Assist with preparation for Training Center Instructor Courses
  • Facilitate important information to the BREMSS Training Center as needed
  • Assist with public CPR course requests that come in via email or phone to be assigned to an instructor(s) to conduct the course

 

Assist with BREMSS office functions:

  • Answering phone calls and emails
  • Monitoring the front door/greeting visitors and assisting with their needs
  • Making sure building is secure at  the close of business if last to leave
  • Assist with other duties as assigned from the BREMSS Executive Director or BREMSS Manager of Education and Provider Services
Qualifications

Minimum Qulifications:

  • High School diploma or GED and five (5) years of related experience required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience within Emergency Medical Services or other associated healthcare environments
  • Knowledge of computer software to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook as well as data entry experience
  • Customer service experience
Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $15.00 – $19.14
